Quality, Regulatory and Food Safety Manager

The Quality, Regulatory and Food Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality, regulatory compliance, and food safety within the organization. The role is reporting to the Chief R&D Officer and based in Kezad, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Develops, implements, and maintains quality management systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards (ISO, BRC, ADAFSA, FDA)
  • Oversees the creation and enforcement of robust testing programs on food products to ensure compliance with regulations, and the advancement of product safety for our consumers.
  • Develop and implement regulatory strategies for our products across the region ensuring in market compliance and enabling continued growth and geographical expansion
  • ⁠Provides expert regulatory guidance on new and existing products including formulation guidance, product naming, regulatory approval of ingredients and nutrition labeling by design.
  • Acquires and manages all necessary Certifications and approvals to demonstrate compliance with relevant regulations and standards (FDA, Non GMO, Vegan, Halal etc…)
  • Builds external relations and stakeholder engagement with regulatory agencies, industry bodies, and certification bodies to stay informed of changes in regulations and standards
  • ⁠Develops policies and procedures for product labeling such as assessment of new ingredients, creation of new ingredients in labeling database, creation of the labeling database, guidance for developing compliant nutritional fact panels ingredient statements and regulatory packaging artwork review checklist.
  • Conducts regular (internal and external) audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement and drive corrective actions to address any non-conformities.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure quality and food safety considerations are integrated into product development, manufacturing, and supply chain processes.
  • Drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency, and effectiveness across the organization, addresses gaps and mitigates food safety risks, provides governance to ensure all food safety CAPAs are effective, closed, and validated; and drives sharing of learnings and best practices across the business
  • Develops and manages supplier quality program
  • Key point contact for food safety-related incidents; provides guidance to the organization, expertise to assist with the disposition of products, and oversight to assure robust corrective action management
  • ⁠Implements Quality by Design principles to ensure quality is built into products and processes from the design stage.
  • Develops and monitors data-driven key performance indicators (KPIs) related to quality, regulatory compliance, and food safety, and provides regular reports to senior management.
  • Builds and leads a high-performing team of quality and food safety professionals, providing guidance and support to drive a culture of quality throughout the organization.
Skills, Experience and Personal Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Quality Management or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in quality management, regulatory by design & compliance, labeling and food safety within the food industry is a must
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing and maintaining quality management systems and achieving and maintaining certifications such as ISO, GMP, BRC.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve high performance.
  • ⁠Strong drive and entrepreneurial capabilities able to see and act on both short and long term opportunities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards in the food industry, local (ADAFSA, Dubai Municipality), regional (SFDA) and global including EFSA, FDA and FSMA requirements.
  • ⁠Certification as a Quality Manager, Food Safety Manager, or similar credentials is a plus.
